The Swedish Security Service protects national security and Swedish democracy
The Swedish Security Service works to detect offences against national security, fight terrorism and protect the central Government. We do this to protect the democratic system, the rights and freedoms of our citizens and national security. We engage in five areas of activity: counter-espionage, counter-terrorism, protection of the Constitution, protective security and dignitary protection. We also work to prevent proliferation of weapons of mass destruction and provide a number of functions to assist other law-enforcement authorities.
Regional activities
Five regional units with regional offices across the country are responsible for the Service's activities in a number of counties.
